Water is time after time present in the Old and New Testaments in contexts that are familiar to our students (eating,drinking,cleaning,watering,fishing...) but also in less known contexts, namely with spiritual purposes. Bible and water are closely related to people and life/Life. It is our responsibility to conserve them and pass them on to the future generations impolluted.Let's do our best.

WATER FOR LIFE ACROSS THE BIBLE AND NOWADAYS
Here you can see a small movie with some of the results of the cooperation of 3 countries in this etwinning project: Portugal,Romania, Germany.
The 5 schools ( 3 from Romania, representing different age groups and backgrounds )have made work representing various Bible texts presenting some different meanings/ contexts of water in the Old and New Testaments. Furthermore, the pupils have become aware of how important water is in their daily routine and also of the fact that there are many people around the world who would like to have the privilege to use as much water as they do. This implies a greater responsibility in the use and management of water on the side of those who presently have it abundantly.

The Miraculous Draught of Fish - A Pesca Milagrosa
But there are also different details in these episodes, the most relevant difference is that Luke 5 refers to something that happened when Jesus was alive and busy teaching the crowds. John 21, on the other hand, takes place after Jesus' Resurrection and only the disciples not crowds, are being taught.
Famous painters like Reubens have illustrated this John 21 episode, but here we will give simple illustrations by Portuguese students in black and white

CONTEST/CONCURSO: Meanings of Water in the Bible/Significados da Água na Bíblia

We read: " Every Body counts. Every drop matters"
Lemos que: "Todos são importantes. Todas as gotas são relevantes."
WATER IS ASSOCIATED BOTH WITH GOOD AND BAD THINGS: drinkable water is present everyday in different aspects of our daily routines, but it is also associated with tsunamis and other calamities.
Water is also mentioned at school in Physics, Chemistry, Science...Também na escola a água é referida em várias disciplinas: Física, Química, Ciências...BUT IS THAT ALL THERE IS TO LEARN ABOUT WATER?
MAS É SÓ ISTO QUE HÁ A SABER SOBRE A ÁGUA?Let's discover these and other meanings of Water in the Bible.
Teachers can enter outcomes of individual pupils or 3 group students' products in a Contest entitled: The Meanings of Water in the Bible.
Let's find out how important water has been IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS across generations.HERE ARE SOME SUGGESTIONS concerning the work sequence.
Step 1: students report on the areas/how often/ (clean)water is required in their daily routines( e.g. in the kitchen - to cook, to do the dishes, to clean the floor.... - duas vezes por dia )Step 2: "Imagine a week in your life without water in your home/ in your community. How would it be? Que alterações?..."Goal: help students become more aware of how happy they are for easily having clean water at their disposal ( GRATITUDE )and also understand that others elsewhere do not have the same experience and so something must be done for them and also in favour of the coming generations ( RESPONSIBILITY; SOLIDARITY/COMPASSION ).Objectivo: ajudar os alunos a adquirir maior consciência de como são felizes por terem à sua disposição água potável sem limitações ( GRATIDÃO ) e a compreenderem também que outras pessoas, noutros lugares do mundo, não têm a mesma experiência e portanto algo tem de ser feito em benefício deles e das futuras gerações ( RESPONSABILIDADE; SOLIDARIEDADE/COMPAIXÃO ).
Step 3: Choice of a Bible(s) text(s) on water. After listening to the text told by a Teacher/viewed ( youTube link search ) or reading the Bible text, the students will produce individual illustrations, associating both drawing and written titles/subtitles/ speech bubbles in English, making clear for others the meaning(s) of water conveyed in the Bible narrative/s chosen ( see list provided in this blog ).Passo 3: Escolha de narrativa/s da Bíblia referente ao tema água.
Step 4:The work submitted to the contest must be a more elaborate outcome than just the common drawing with texts of an ATB Task. It might be an educational game/ a flier/ a poster/ a calendar/ a roleplay / a song to be seen/heard ( CDRom ), a three dimensional recreation of the Bible Text... creativity and ability to convey the water meaning are central.
