A School Outing - Uma Visita de Estudo - an educational extension of classroom studies

We went to / Fomos visitar a Companhia das Lezírias, Portugal. The visit was organised by the Teacher of Geography and supported by the Teacher of German/English. A visita foi organizada pela Professora de Geografia e secundada pela Professora de Alemão/Inglês ( Escola Secundária D.Dinis, Lisboa ). We had two classes of 11th graders full of joy and enthusiasm. Eram duas turmas de 11º ano de jovens alegres e cheios de entusiasmo. The water was present in the landscape, plants, animals and also in several moments: when eating, drinking, playing around... A água esteve presente nas paisagens, plantas, animais e também em vários outros momentos: na altura de comer, beber, das brincadeiras...
But there was also VIRTUAL water around: the one used to manufacture clothing, notepads, the seats of the bus... the water is present even when you don't see it, much about the same as the spirit of man: you don't see it, but you have it. Mas havia também água VIRTUAL por ali: a que foi utilizada para produzir o vestuário, os blocos de apontamentos, as cadeiras do autocarro ... a água está presente mesmo quando a não vemos , é o que acontece com a parte espiritual do ser humano: não a vemos, mas ela está lá.

In the Book of AMOS, chapter 5, verse 24, we can read:

" (..) let justice run down like waters and righteousness as a mighty and everflowing stream."

This is but one of the many metaphors, comparisons water is associated with in the Bible.

No Livro de AMÓS, capítulo 5, versículo 24, podemos ler:

" (..) corra a justiça como as águas e a rectidão como um poderoso rio que não para. "

Esta é apenas uma das muitas comparações, metáforas usadas na Bíblia em associação com a água.

This PP presentation integrates material collected and made throughout this school year on the above topic by secondary school students from Escola Secundária D.Dinis, LISBOA, under the supervision of their teachers of English. The assumption is that the present generation has the responsibility to stand for and care for the right of the future generations to enjoy both WATER and THE BIBLE heritages, because both of them are essential to humankind's PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL SURVIVAL.

Here you can see a small movie with some of the results of the cooperation of 3 countries in this etwinning project: Portugal,Romania, Germany.
The 5 schools ( 3 from Romania, representing different age groups and backgrounds )have made work representing various Bible texts presenting some different meanings/ contexts of water in the Old and New Testaments. Furthermore, the pupils have become aware of how important water is in their daily routine and also of the fact that there are many people around the world who would like to have the privilege to use as much water as they do. This implies a greater responsibility in the use and management of water on the side of those who presently have it abundantly.
Pode ver aqui um filme curto que mostra alguns dos resultados da cooperação dos 3 países que integram este projecto etwinning: Portugal; Roménia, Alemanha.
As 5 escolas (3 da Roménia, representando diferentes faixas etárias e enquadramentos diversos ) produziram trabalhos ilustrativos de vários textos da Bíblia sobre alguns significados/contextos diferentes da água no Velho e Novo Testamentos. Além disso, os jovens ganharam uma maior consciência da importância da água na sua rotina diária e do facto de que há muitas pessoas no mundo que gostariam de ter o privilégio de usar tanta água quanto eles. Uma responsabilidade acrescida na utilização e gestão da àgua à disposição daqueles que presentemente a têm em abundância..
